EVIN C. VARNER DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
(Established in 1959)

1995 Dr. John L. Blackburn, Missouri Valley ‘49
DELTA BETA XI AWARD
(Established 1938)
This award is presented for sustained, outstanding alumni service to the Fraternity, generally for more than ten years. It derives from the period 1864 to 1875 when members of Delta Beta Xi secretly pledged their allegiance to Alpha Sigma Phi. Their courage kept the traditions of the fraternity alive despite a faculty ban on the organization.
While potential criteria for the award are varied, general criteria include years of service, type of service, and significant achievements.
